Vitamins & Supplements After Surgery.
Small daily habits protect the health you are working to improve.
Your operation determines your needs
Sleeve, bypass, SADI-S and duodenal switch have different effects on intake and absorption. A standard multivitamin may not meet your postoperative needs. The team sets a procedure-specific plan and adjusts it to laboratory results, food intake and symptoms. Do not substitute another patient’s regimen.
What is commonly monitored
Monitoring may include iron, vitamin B12, folate, vitamin D, calcium status and other nutrients. More extensive intestinal procedures can require particular attention to fat-soluble vitamins, protein and trace elements. Exact tests, products, doses and timing belong in your individual clinical instructions.
Keep supplements and follow-up consistent
Bring labels or photos of your supplements to visits. Tell the team if cost, nausea or swallowing makes them difficult to take. Persistent vomiting, weakness, numbness or trouble walking needs prompt medical assessment; do not wait for routine laboratory work.
