SADI-S Metabolic Surgery.
At NuSelf, we offer advanced metabolic surgery including single-anastomosis duodeno-ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy (SADI-S). Dr. Sashidhar Ganta brings extensive experience and a personalized approach to substantial weight loss, metabolic health and long-term support.
SADI-S combines a sleeve gastrectomy with a single intestinal connection. The duodenum is divided just beyond the stomach outlet and connected to a loop of ileum. This changes how food travels through the intestine and where it meets digestive juices, supporting weight loss and improvements in metabolic health. Lifelong supplements, protein intake and nutritional monitoring are essential.
The metabolic benefit of SADI-S
SADI-S combines a sleeve with a new connection from the duodenum to a later part of the small intestine. The sleeve removes much of the stomach region that produces ghrelin, a hormone involved in hunger. The intestinal connection changes when nutrients meet digestive juices and which intestinal cells encounter food.
These changes influence natural signals such as GLP-1, which supports insulin release in response to elevated glucose, and PYY, which contributes to fullness. Research in people shows altered meal-related hormone responses after SADI-S; the pattern is not identical to traditional duodenal switch. Reduced calorie absorption and changes in insulin sensitivity also contribute to its metabolic effects.
For appropriately selected patients, this combination can provide substantial weight loss and improvement in type 2 diabetes and other weight-related conditions. The same intestinal changes make protein, vitamin and mineral intake especially important. A clear supplementation plan, periodic blood tests and lifelong follow-up help protect your nutrition as your weight and health improve. Your surgeon tailors the procedure and long-term plan to your individual needs.
The metabolic benefit The sleeve removes most of the ghrelin-producing stomach tissue, helping reduce hunger naturally. The intestinal bypass enhances the body’s natural GLP-1 response after meals, supporting earlier fullness, blood sugar control, and long-term weight maintenance. It also deliberately reduces calorie and nutrient absorption—called malabsorption—to contribute to weight loss. Nutrition follow-up and prescribed supplements are part of long-term care.
Simplified metabolic pathway. The degree of response varies by person.
