A metabolic plan that reflects your original surgery

After bariatric surgery, anatomy, appetite, medication needs and metabolism continue to change. Weight regain or a return of diabetes does not by itself tell us which treatment will help. We review your original operation, symptoms, nutrition, current health and weight history before recommending medical, endoscopic or surgical treatment.

A conversion from sleeve to gastric bypass or SADI-S changes the pathway of food through the small intestine. That can alter natural meal-related signals, including GLP-1 and PYY, as well as nutrient absorption. A pouch or outlet revision has a different purpose and does not reproduce every metabolic effect of a new bypass. Band removal alone also does not create the hormonal effects of sleeve surgery.

Revision eligibility is individualized according to your clinical needs, including weight recurrence, persistent metabolic disease, reflux or other complications. It is not determined solely by the BMI criteria used for a first bariatric operation. Your plan includes realistic goals, nutrition and laboratory monitoring, and long-term follow-up to help protect both results and health.

Revision eligibility is individualized. Your previous operation, symptoms, reflux, nutritional status, weight response and metabolic health guide the evaluation. Primary-surgery BMI thresholds alone do not determine whether revision is appropriate. Dr. Ganta reviews your records and anatomy to recommend a plan suited to your clinical needs.

What is Revision Gastric Bypass

Revision gastric bypass is a surgical option for individuals who have not achieved or maintained the desired results from a previous gastric bypass surgery. This procedure involves modifying or correcting the initial surgery to improve its effectiveness, resolve complications, or address changes in your weight loss journey.

How is Revision gastric bypass performed

The approach to revision surgery can vary significantly based on the individual's needs, the type of initial surgery, and the goals of the revision. Our surgeons create a road map for your success at the initial consultation with the help of a specialized X ray evaluation of your previous procedure. Common surgical techniques include resizing the stomach pouch, altering the length of the small intestine used for absorption, or correcting any anatomical changes that have occurred since the initial surgery. Our skilled surgeons use the latest techniques and technology to ensure the best possible outcomes.
