Meet April

April

“My name is April and I did the gastric band surgery months ago on May 18. I lost 70 pounds and my life has been the best that it has ever been.”

Weight Lost: 63 Lbs

Estimated weight loss %:50%

Procedure: Adjustable Gastric Band

When I was probably about 10 years ago I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. And I know that the weight can cause physical and emotional problems, even outside of the disease. But I knew that if I didn’t lose the weight that I may not be able to walk when I got older – I already did have major problems with my joints. So I knew that I needed to really lose weight.

I struggled with my weight for a very long time. Like most women, usually after having their first child. And it was all up and down; I did the yo-yo diet, and tried everything the liquid diets to Weight Watchers.

And then one day I was just kind of giving up and there was a commercial on the radio for Dr. Ganta and I heard it several times but never really paid attention to it. Then one day it clicked and I heard the phone number and put it in my cell phone and called the next day. And the funny part was is, I had called to make a consultation appointment and I was talking to my ex-husband and he had already had his appointment with Dr. Ganta. He was explaining it all to me and kind of pushing me towards it because he was doing it and he already had his surgery scheduled. And so I said, okay, well that’s just more motivation for me to go ahead and go through with the consultation and see where it went.

But I knew that if I didn’t lose the weight that I may not be able to walk when I got older – I already did have major problems with my joints. So I knew that I needed to really lose weight but just struggled with doing it because I would exercise and try to follow a diet and would get discouraged because I wasn’t losing it fast enough or it wasn’t staying off. So just mainly I had the issues with my joint pain and not feeling comfortable in my own body – I would wear overly baggy clothes to like my scrubs that I would wear.
